ECO 350K • Contemporary Latin American Economies
3:30 PM-6:30 PM
The course will focus on contemporary issues and prospects of Latin American economies, with a strong empirical and policy analysis orientation. We will cover the recent developments and prospects of Latin American labor markets, income distribution and poverty, domestic and foreign investment, international migration, trade and regional integration, government spending and resources, the financial system, money, debt and macroeconomic policy. For each topic, we will review and discuss some basic theoretical concepts and quantitative tools to frame the analysis, to later perform an intensive study of the appropriate empirical material reflecting recent Latin American experiences.
