Course Description
Health care poses many pressing public policy issues, and this course will provide insight into many of those issues. We will start by applying economic models to the production of health and health care, and then discuss the institutions in health care markets. We will then discuss the role of government, placing particular emphasis on public provision of care to the disadvantaged. Finally, we will discuss the structure of the industry and ideas for health care reform. Empirical results and policy applications will be discussed throughout the course.
