Economics Welcomes New Assistant Professor

We are please to announce that Dr. M. Fatih Guvenen has joined the Department of Economics. Dr. Guvenen earned a B.Sc. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Bilkent University, Turkey in 1995 and a Ph.D. in Economics from Carnegie-Mellon University in 2001, where he was awarded the Alexander Henderson Award for Excellence in Economic Theory. Before joining UT, Professor Guvenen was an assistant professor of economics at the University of Rochester, a visiting associate professor at New York University's Stern School of Business. Professor Guvenen's research interests are in macroeconomics, financial economics and labor economics. His recent work focuses on the role of heterogeneity among consumers, workers and investors in shaping aggregate economic outcomes.
