Literature and Social Constructions--
This course presents selective works ranging from the colonial period (1600s) to the Cold War (1950s).
It aims at an overview of various philosophical, cultural, and artistic changes during these four centuries with special attention devoted to appreciating how the chief concerns of a time are represented in art. Our main topics include the representation of nature, humanity, and gender.
It also aims at enhancing each student's ability to read and write, especially through discussion sessions and in-class writing exercises.
