Course Description
We study poems by 12 or 15 major twentieth-century poets, British and American. We read poems closely as individual works of verbal art, and consider them in relation to other poems and to the authors' lives and times. Our aim is knowledge, appreciation, and understanding of the diverse and interlinked achievements of modern poets, and of the nature of poetry. Some lecturing; much discussion.
