Course Description
This is a survey course in American Literature from the Puritans to the end of the 20th century. We will read major authors of each period, locating the writer in his/her time and place. Careful attention is paid to the works and their backgrounds. There will be plenty of poetry, short fiction, and a couple of novels along the way.
