Course Description
This is basically a course from Whitman to DeLillo, from 19th-century realism to 20th-Century post-modernism. We will read a wide range of writers, from the obvious canonical figures to the not so obvious marginalized voices, and examine how recent American Literature is being reshaped and rethought.
Grading Policy
Three papers (4-5 pages each, typed) 25% each
One longer paper (6-8 pages, typed) 25%
Attendance is essential; there is only one unexcused absence allowed. Excessive absences will affect your grade.
