Course Description
This course will survey a traditional selection of Shakespeare's comedies, histories and tragedies. We will treat these works primarily as dramas, but also consider their poetic and rhetorical dimensions. Plays to be studied include the following: A Midsummer Night's Dream, Twelfth Night, The Merchant of Venice, 1 Henry IV, Henry V, Hamlet, Othello, Macbeth, and The Tempest.
Grading Policy
Oral report, 10%
Position Papers & Participation, 20%
Midterm examination, 30%
Final examination, 40%
