Course Description

This course is an introduction to fiction writing, focusing on the techniques used to develop short stories. Students will spend a fair amount of time learning to read and discuss stories as writers do. Throughout the semester each student will write three narrative sketches (2-3 pp) and two short stories (5-6 pp). Most of the writing in the course will be critiqued in a workshop setting with TAs leading the student discussion.

Note: Student writing presented in multiple copies.

Steady attendance.

No final exam.
