Course Description

A course based on close reading. Class participation is a must during the recitation periods. Take home papers will also be assigned for each work. Review of previously read material and discussion is also a requirement.

Grading Policy

Minimum of six essays (minimum of 750 words each) 80%
Pop Quizzes 20%
Attendance is required and monitored.

Larry McMurtry, Horseman, Pass By
Francisco Jiménez, The Circuit
Rolando Hinojosa, Ask a Policeman
B. L. Brammer, The Gay Place
We will read two novels of the three in Brammer's.
If available, we will read Francisco Jiménez sequel to The Circuit, Breaking Through.
