Course Description
In roughly the first third of the course we will practice traditional, structuralist ways of analyzing sentences. From then on, the goal will be to gain familiarity with both formal and functional ways of describing and discussing selected grammatical problems. In order to understand the debate between the two, we will read publications from the Chomskyan tradition and from more data-based research. There will also be a component of active work with digital language corpora.
