Course Description
We shall read widely on the three poets, interpreting individual poems as themselves, in relation to one another within each author's work, and on terms of comparison and contrast between and among the three authors, with references outward to antecedents and contemporaries. In class discussions, we shall focus intensively on a number of poems selected to plumb each author's range, depth, idiosyncrasies and excellences.
