Grading Policy

Requirements include a midterm, a final, short pop quizzes, and one essay.

Texts

We will read major authors of each period, including William Bradford, Benjamin Franklin, Herman Melville, Walt Whitman, Henry James, Edith Wharton, Ernest Hemingway, T. S. Eliot, William Faulkner, Richard Wright, and Flannery O'Connor, to name a few. We will also view films such as Death of a Salesman and Glengarry Glenn Ross.
