Course Description
The goal of this course is to introduce students to some canonical classics of British literature. The course asks students to make the acquaintance of these works so that we might call into question the value of such study in the early twenty-first century.
Aside from reading certain British literary classics, students will become acquainted with the rudiments of literary history, learn useful terminology and methods of literary analysis, memorize short passages of poetry (fifty lines in all), and keep a reading journal.
