Course Description

This course centers on adaptation of short stories to film as a means of learning the significant differences in the media. Each student will learn through practice to adapt a short story by planning and writing a film script, then visualizing part of a completed film. Short films will illustrate different problems and solutions. There will be three short critical papers analyzing specific adaptations, with revisions for new grade possible. The final exam will be a 10-page paper.

Grading Policy

Class participation and attendance 25%
Three adaptation exercises 45%
Final paper (10 pages) 30%
