Course Description
Some stories will be read as individual works; most will be read in the context of the books in which they originally appeared, and all will be read in the context of two cultural movements, the modern and post modern.
Grading Policy
Five (5) 3-page papers 65%
Final essay exam (take-home) 20%
Attendance and class participation 15%
Note: Two of the papers may be rewritten for a better grade. Late papers will be penalized 10% and will not be eligible for rewriting.
All papers will be read and discussed in class (seminar style); do not enroll in this class unless you are committed to doing all reading and writing on time and to consistent daily attendance.
