The Oscar Wilde Archive
A Roundtable in Anticipation E3W's Spring Sequels Conference
E3W Prequels invites you to join us as we dive into the archive of Wilde’s illustrious career, scandalous
lifestyle, and surprisingly active afterlife. From a gossipy letter to the original manuscript of Salomé, an
unexpected postcard to a posthumously-composed memoir of purgatory, our four panelists will draw on
the Harry Ransom Center’s extensive Wilde archive in their explorations of his life, work, and legacy.
On February 12th, from 3-5 p.m. in the Denius Seminar Room at the HRC, Gabby Redwine, Dr. Elizabeth
Richmond-Garza, Dr. Neville Hoad, and Hala Herbly will present their archival research in a roundtable
chaired by Dr. Elizabeth Cullingford. They will engage with topics as diverse as Wilde’s family correspondence,
the links between translation and queer theory, Wilde’s “civilizing” mission, and his literary afterlife. A question
and answer session and a chance to view the artifacts discussed will follow the presentations. All are welcome!
