PS Poetry Reading Celebrating Kofi Awoonor

Tue, November 5, 2013 • 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM • The Atwood Library (CAL 300)

The Poetry and Poetics Interest Group invites you to our next installment of the Poets and Scholars (P.S.) Reading Series, celebrating the life and work of Kofi Awoonor, on Tuesday, November 5th, in the Atwood Library (Calhoun 300), from 1-2 p.m.

The late Kofi Awoonor is widely considered to have been Ghana’s greatest contemporary poet, as well as a noted translator and novelist.  He was also an ambassador and a professor of comparative literature in the 1970s, when he taught at several universities in the United States, including UT Austin.  Awoonor was killed in the recent attack on the Westgate mall in Nairobi.

Please join us for readings and discussions of Awoonor’s poetry by UT faculty members and graduate students.  Refreshments will be served.
