Asian American, African American, and twentieth-century American literatures.Biography
Julia H. Lee is an assistant professor of English and Asian American Studies. She received her Ph.D. in English from UCLA. Prior to her appointment at UT, Lee was a University of California President's Postdoctoral Fellow. Her Research interests include Asian American, African American, and Twentieth-century American literatures. She has completed a manuscript on the representation of interracial encounters in early twentieth-century African American and Asian American literary texts. Her current research explores the importance of the train in American literature and considers why scenes of racial conflict and formation are often set on the railroad.
