Admission Requirements
The Graduate Program of the Department of English at The University of Texas at Austin admits students for the fall semester only. Applicants who have earned a BA from a regionally accredited institution may apply to the MA/PhD program in English or to the MA program in Creative Writing. The Program does not accept applications for a terminal M.A. degree in English. The annual deadline for applications is January 2, 2008. We do not have rolling admissions.
Foreign Language Requirement
Two years' college credit in a foreign language or the equivalent is also required for students who are admitted to the graduate program.
Application Procedures ("How to Apply")
Applications are made to two separate offices: the Graduate and International Admissions Center (GIAC) and the English Department's Graduate Program. You must send a packet of application materials to the English Department in order to be considered for admission.
