Graduate

Parlin Hall (PAR) and Calhoun Hall (CAL) are located off of the northeast corner of the intersection of 21st St. and Guadalupe St., in the complex of buildings on the eastern side of the Harry Ransom Center (HRC) and on the west side of the South Mall, in the "Six-Pack."

If you drive to orientation, we suggest that you either park in the Brazos Garage (BRG on the map below) or the San Antonio Garage (SAG on the map below). The Brazos Garage is accessible from Martin Luther King Blvd. The San Antonio Garage is accessible from Guadalupe. Both garages require a daily parking fee, and both are about a ten minute walk from the English Department offices in PAR and CAL. Limited street parking is available in West Campus. In addition, there is a visitor's parking guide available here.

In general, it's better to avoid the hassles of parking on campus. Take a UT Shuttle or city bus.

Graduate Student "A" and "C" Parking Permits

New graduate students may purchase "C" or "C+" parking permits now and "A" permits beginning Wednesday, August 11. You may purchase your permit online or at the Parking Office (see bottom).

All UT students are eligible for a

"C" Parking permit ($100 for 12 months) that allows parking in "C" and "Any Permit" areas.

"C+ Parking permit ($139 for 12 months) that allows daytime parking in "C" areas and nighttime parking in a garage.

Some graduate students (see below) are also eligible for an

"A" parking permit ($120 for 12 months) that allows parking in "A" lots and "A" street parking.

There are some "A" and "C" spaces on the main campus. Other "A" and "C" lots are east of I-35. The (free!) Disch-Faulk (DF) bus runs every ten minutes from those lots east of I-35 to campus (Map of campus shuttle routes).

To be eligible for an "A" parking permit, students must have a 20-hour TA or AI position or a $10,800 fellowship. These students have been officially recorded in the Parking database as "A" eligible. Students do not have to provide a copy of their TA/AI contract or fellowship. Rather, on or after August 11, students can complete a form on-line or in person. Students with an "A" permit are also eligible to purchase a UT Share Pass. This pass allows you to park in some garages for $5/day and others for $2/day rather than the normal $7/day. See below.
