Transportation

Parlin Hall (PAR) and Calhoun Hall (CAL) are located off of the northeast corner of the intersection of 21st St. and Guadalupe St., in the complex of buildings on the eastern side of the Harry Ransom Center (HRC) and on the west side of the South Mall, in the "Six-Pack."

Biking to campus

Riding a bicycle to campus is encouraged to reduce traffic and parking congestion and reduce air pollution.  UT offers a range of facilities to support cyclists.  Please check out the UT-Bike program website for more information and guidance for using a bike as your mode of transportation to campus.

Car and van sharing

The Parking and Transportation Department offers a variety of ways to drive to campus and share the ride.

Capitol Metro

The city bus system offers several UT shuttle routes and an extensive network that will get you to most places in Austin.

Driving

If you drive to orientation, the Brazos Garage or the San Antonio Garage are closest to Parlin and Calhoun.  The Brazos Garage is accessible from Martin Luther King Blvd. The San Antonio Garage is accessible from Guadalupe. Both garages require a daily parking fee, and both are about a ten minute walk from the English Department offices in PAR and CAL. There are several private paid parking lots and garages nearby, and metered and free street parking is available in West Campus. In addition, there is a visitor's parking guide available here.

Graduate Student Parking Permits

New graduate students may purchase a parking permit that will allow them to park in designated parking lots on campus.  You may purchase your permit through  Parking & Transportation Services.

Permits available to all graduate students.

Permits available to TAs and AIs, or graduate students registered at The University of Texas at Austin for courses of instruction and who are employed by The University of Texas at Austin for at least 20 hours per week.  The English grad office will provide you with a letter confirming your appointment.

The Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) Office is located in the Trinity Parking Garage (TRG), at Trinity & Martin Luther King.

The office is located on the east side of level one (1) of the garage. Pull a ticket to enter the garage and bring the garage entry ticket with you to the office where you will receive time limited validated parking. A map may be found online at http://www.utexas.edu/parking
