10:35a-11:30a, Parlin Hall (PAR), Room 201. General advising and Ph.D. interest groups for all new Literature and Rhetoric students.
10:35a-11:30a, Calhoun Hall (CAL), Room 300 (Atwood Library). General advising for all new Creative Writing students.
11:35a-1:00p, Calhoun Hall (CAL), Room 103 (Grad Student Lounge). New Student Luncheon, for all new students, returning grad students, and faculty.
1:00p-2:00p, Calhoun Hall (CAL), Room 300 (Atwood Library). Orientation for E 315 TAs (second-year M.F.A. students), led by Oscar Casares or Lisa Moore.
2:00p-4:15 PM, Perry-Castaneda Library (PCL), Room 1.124. Required UT library and HRC orientation for all incoming English graduate students. This will be a hands-on introduction to the resources available to you at the UT Libraries and the HRC, successful search strategies, and library services, led by Shiela Winchester (winchester@austin.utexas.edu) and Jean Cannon (jeanmcannon@utexas.edu). The Library/HRC orientation will begin in PCL 1.124, from 2-3pm and then the group will walk to the HRC for Jean's presentation from 3:15-4:15.

5:00p, Hole in the Wall (2538 Guadalupe St). Bat City Review Happy Hour. The Bat City Review, an entirely graduate student-run literary magazine of national interest, hosts a happy hour at the Hole in the Wall for those interested in becoming editorial staff and/or for those who merely wish to hang out and meet fellow writers and English students. Come have a few and find out what Bat City is all about.
8:30p, Main Building (The Tower). "Gone to Texas" is a university-wide event that welcomes new undergraduate and graduate students with live music and a broad spectrum of presentations from across the campus.
