10:35a-11:30a, Calhoun Hall (CAL), Room 300 (Atwood Library). General advising for all new Creative Writing students.
11:35a-1:00p, Calhoun Hall (CAL), Room 103 (Grad Student Lounge). New Student Luncheon, for all new students, returning grad students, and faculty.
1:00-1:45, Parlin Hall (PAR), Room 312. Professional Skills Information session, led by current grad students Elizabeth Frye and Rachel Schneider.

4:30p, Calhoun Hall (CAL), Room 103 (Grad Student Lounge). Optional Campus Tour given by current grad student Laine Perez. Walking tour to popular destinations on campus for English grad students: Harry Ransom Center (HRC), Texas Union, Main Building ("the Tower") and the Office of Graduate Studies, PCL, and finishing at the Dog & Duck Pub.
5:00p, Dog & Duck Pub, 406 W. 17th St. (at the corner of Guadalupe & 17th). Bat City Review Happy Hour. The Bat City Review, an entirely graduate student-run literary magazine of national interest, hosts a happy hour on the back patio of the Dog & Duck Pub for those interested in becoming editorial staff and/or for those who merely wish to hang out and meet fellow writers and English students. Come have a few and find out what Bat City is all about.

2-4:15 PM, Perry-Castaneda Library (PCL), Room 1.124. Required UT library and HRC orientation for all incoming English graduate students. This will be a hands-on introduction to the resources available to you at the UT Libraries and the HRC, successful search strategies, and library services, led by Lindsey Schell, (schell@mail.utexas.edu) and Molly Schwartzburg (schwartzburg@mail.utexas.edu). The Library/HRC orientation will begin in PCL 1.124, from 2-3pm and then the group will walk to the HRC for Molly's presentation from 3:15-4:15.
3:00-4:00, Painter Hall, Room 3.02. Orientation for E 315 TAs (second-year M.F.A. students), led by Oscar Casares or Lisa Moore.
8:30p, Main Building (The Tower). "Gone to Texas" is an university-wide event that welcomes new undergraduate and graduate students with live music and a broad spectrum of presentations from across the campus.

Classes begin
5:30-7:30p, Etter-Harbin Alumni Center (UTX) (21st and San Jacinto). Each year on the first day of classes, the UT Graduate Student Assembly holds a barbecue for incoming graduate and professional students, along with an information fair featuring nearly 40 on-campus organizations. Come party with thousands of your fellow graduate students and enjoy free food and lots of free stuff. Vegetarians welcome! Meet students from all over campus, and all over the world! Don't forget to take a stroll through the information fair. Bring your student ID to enter.
