Poets Evie Shockley, Ange Mlinko, and Kevin Prufer give reading in conjunction with Poetry Society of America Spotlight Series

The Creative Writing Program and the Michener Center for Writers invite you to a reading and roundtable discussion by three emerging poet/critics:
EVIE SHOCKLEY, the author of two books of poems: A Half-Red Sea and the forthcoming The New Black. She is also the author of the forthcoming study Renegade Poetics: Black Aesthetics and Formal Innovation in African-American Poetry. Among her honors are fellowships from the Ford Foundation and the American Council of Learned Societies. She is an editor of Jubilat.
ANGE MLINKO, the author of three poetry collections: Shoulder Season, Starred Wire, and Matinees. She has taught poetry at Brown University as well as the Naropa University Smmer Writing Program. She is the winner of the Poetry Foundation's 2009 Randall Jarrell Award for Criticism.
KEVIN PRUFER, the author of four books of poems: National Anthem, Fallen from a Chariot, The Finger Bone, and Strange Wood. His newest collection, In A Beautiful Country, is forthcoming. He is an editor of Pleiades, as well as four poetry anthologies. Among his honors are three Pushcart Prizes and a fellowship in poetry from the National Endowment for the Arts.
The event will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday 11 November 2010 in the Avaya Auditorium (in UT's ACES building, at 201 E. 24th Street). PSA Programs Director Robert N. Casper will moderate. Admission is free.
