Assistant Professor J.K. Barret wins Solmsen Fellowship and Clark Short-Term Fellowship

J.K. Barret will begin a year-long appointment in the Institute for Humanities Research at University of Wisconsin-Madison this fall. As a 2011-2012 Solmsen Fellow, Professor Barret will complete her current book project, The Poetics of Futurity in Renaissance England. Through an annual national competition, the Institute awards Solmsen Fellowships to support scholars working on literary and historical studies of the European Classical, Medieval, and Renaissance periods. During her appointment, Professor Barret will participate in seminars and sessions sponsored by the Institute while conducting individual research.
In addition, the UCLA Center for 17th- and 18th-Century Studies has awarded Professor Barret a Clark Short-Term Fellowship to support research at the UCLA William Andrews Clark Memorial Library during the academic year 2011-12. During the term of her award, Professor Barret will be in residence at the Clark to consult rare materials relevant to her research project.
