Poetry on the Plaza focuses on Translation

At noon on Wednesday, February 22, poets participating in the TILTS conference will share examples of their favorite poems in translation. The reading, which will take place in the courtyard of the Harry Ransom Center, is co-sponsored by TILTS and the HRC, and is free and open to the public. Readers include poets Cyrus Cassells, Marilyn Hacker, Fady Joudah, Eileen Myles, Urayoán Noel, and Valerie Martinez, as well as Lynn Keller, Martha Meier Renk-Bascom Professor of Poetry at University of Wisconsin-Madison; Laura Smith, assistant professor at Stevenson University; and Afsar Mohammad of the Asian Studies Department at The University of Texas at Austin. Also reading are University of Texas at Austin faculty members Department of English Chair Elizabeth Cullingford, visiting professor Gabrielle Calvocoressi, Associate Professor Meta DuEwa Jones, Associate Professor Lisa Moore, and Michener Center for Writers fellow Shamala Gallagher.
