The Department of English awards several Endowed Presidential Scholarships each academic year. Qualifying students will be notified by the department during the spring semester.
The University of Texas Development Board established the Endowed Presidential Scholarship program in 1973 to provide merit-based scholarship support to outstanding UT Austin students. Nine scholarships were awarded the first year, and since then the program has grown exponentially, thanks to the generosity of the University's alumni and friends. Endowed Presidential Fellowships were added to the program in 1997 to recognize and support exceptional graduate students. Please use the English Department Scholarship Form to apply for this scholarship.
To be eligible for our merit-based scholarships, you must be a declared English major with a UT Austin GPA of at least 3.7. You must have credit for 75 hours of coursework, at least 45 hours of which must be in residence. You must also have credit for at least 18 hours of English, at least 12 hours of which must be in residence. You must plan to register for at least 12 hours in both the Fall and the Spring semesters.
