Biography

Fanny Macé is a first year Ph.D. student in French Linguistics. She is a native of Tours, France, where she completed her B.A in English and American studies.

Fanny moved to Moorhead, Minnesota, in 2009, and taught French for two years at Concordia College. After a wonderful, enriching experience, she returned to Tours and received a Master of Education with a focus on ESL teaching. The same year, she obtained the CAPES, a competitive teaching proficiency exam.

In 2012-2013, Fanny had the priviledge to teach French for a year at Harvard University. She taught several sections of beginning and intermediate French, contributed to the curriculum development of beginning French classes, and animated French Club events.

Her love of teaching and her curiosity about the mechanics of language brought her to the University of Texas at Austin. Her academic interests include Second Language Acquisition and bilingualism, sociohistorical linguistics, and language contact between French and English.
