Biography

Jocelyn is a third-year student in the Ph.D. program in French Studies. Her research interests include the memory of French colonization in contemporary French and Francophone literature and music, the immigrant experience in France, and the literature and culture of the Maghreb. In addition to French, she also speaks, reads, and writes in Arabic.

Prior to studying at UT-Austin, Jocelyn earned a B.A. in French Studies and History from Rice University in May 2011. As an undergraduate, she wrote a senior honors thesis on the history of mosque construction in France and its impact on the Muslim community. Additionally, she received a Focus Europe grant from Rice to conduct research comparing the working conditions of immigrant domestic workers in Houston, Texas to those living in Paris, France.
