Course Description

The objective of this course is to trace the main steps in the evolution of the Italian language through the analysis of crucial texts, ranging from the 10th century to the present and involving a variety of genres. The course will be conducted seminar-style; therefore, great emphasis will be given to active class participation. Students are required to come to class having completed all the homework and reading assignments as listed in the syllabus and are expected to contribute actively to the class discussion.

Grading Policy

Attendance and participation: 20% Quizzes: 30% Two Exams: 25% each
