Course Description
This course is an exploration of the complete process of learning and teaching a language from the perspective of the college foreign language teacher. We will consider some of the controversies that exist in the profession from the perspectives of traditional and non-traditional approaches to language teaching. The goals of the course are both theoretical and practical, with an emphasis on providing you with:
- an understanding of the theory of language learning/acquisition as it
applies to foreign language instruction;
- a series of practical experiences to prepare you to teach foreign languages
at the college level;
- the ability to integrate culture into the second language classroom;
- an understancing of educational technology as it relates to foreign
language teaching.
