Course Description
This course is taught in French. In this course we will read major novels, plays and poems dating from the early 19th century to the mid-20th century. We will explore each text for the intellectual and esthetic satisfaction it offers, but also to develop a range of appropriate critical perspectives.

Readings: Chateaubriand, René Duras, Moderato Cantabile Balzac, Sarrasine Flaubert, Un Coeur simple Sartre, Huis Clos Camus, L'Etranger Beckett. En Attendant Godot and photocopied packet of poems.
