Course Description
Over the course of the term, will be reading a wide range of literary criticism, mainly from the 20th century in order to 1) comprehend the importance of the many critical approaches; 2) help students build stronger critical arguments. The works read will take us through the main tendencies: Formalism, Phenomenology, Marxism, Psychoanalytical theory, Structuralism to Deconstruction, Postmodernism and Post-colonial theory, Feminism and Gender theory, etc. We will also be looking at some of the contributions of Film theory.
Grading Policy
Participation: 20% Presentations. Students will be presenting two articles of their choice. 20% Papers: 2 short critical essays. 30% Final paper: 30%
