Course Description

Readings and classes are in French. A comparative study of literature and the arts at Versailles during the reign of Louis XIV (1660-1715). Main concentration on plays performed at Versailles, and on Memoires and Correspondences depicting politics and court life. Secondary concentration on architecture, painting and sculpture.
