Course Description

This course will be taught in Italian.

The goals of this course are to improve students' skills in writing and speaking in Italian and to expand their knowledge of the Italian culture. We will reach these goals by: a) reviewing the most complex grammatical structures, b) analyzing the development of the Italian language (i.e. dialects) through short-stories, poems, and songs, c) studying notions of "Italian business", d) reading articles from magazines and works of Italian authors of the XXth century, e) watching and analyzing two movies.

Grading Policy

Regular attendance is required. Students will be asked to come to class well prepared on the readings and the grammar exercises assigned and ready to participate to class discussions. Students will write three short compositions (the first two will have a rewriting); two longer compositions with rewritings. There will be two oral reports in class, the first one done individually and the second one as a group.
