Course Description
This course is designed as a survey of the major French film directors from 1895 to the present. It aims at presenting different cinematic styles and techniques. In addition the films are treated as cultural documents which speak to us about particular social, literary, historical, and anthropological aspects of French society through the years. Assignments: Writing: 7 essays of 650-700 words, typewritten and double-spaced. Class-Participation: For each film students should prepare 5 comments which will be collected each time.
