Course Description

French 312N is a fourth-semester lower-division option with an emphasis on oral expression. The course covers four chapters in French: Basic Course (Foreign Service Institute), a user-friendly text in which the answers to most of the exercises are given in the book. Students work with language tapes or a CD (they can also access the recorded material on-line). This is material that has been prepared by the Department of State. Conscientious students will notice vast improvement in their comprehension and spoken French. They will acquire intuitions about correct sentences, and will gain confidence in their ability to handle the language. Anyone who hopes to travel to a French-speaking country and who wants to communicate with native speakers should seriously consider taking this course. Only 1 of the following may be counted: FR 610, 310L, 612, 312L, 312M, 312N.
