Course Description
This course taught in French. In this course we will read major novels, plays and poems dating from the early 19th century to the mid-20th century. We will explore each text for the intellectual and esthetic satisfaction it offers, but also to develop a range of appropriate critical perspectives.

Readings: Chateaubriand, René Duras, Moderato Cantabile Balzac, Sarrasine Flaubert, Un Coeur simple Sartre, Huis Clos Gide, L'Immoraliste Giraudoux, La Guerre de Troie n'aura pas lieu Camus, L'Etranger Beckett. En attendant Godot and photocopied packet of poems.
