B.A. in Italian

The Department of French and Italian faculty and staff provide and support innovative, high-quality teaching responsive to educational needs and interests of students through courses in pedagogy, language teaching, literary criticism, and cultural studies. In addition, the department offers Radio Arlecchino, an innovative online resource. The podcast offers students grammar without the grind and cultural and vocabulary notes on the go. Listeners can ask questions and leave comments on the Blog. Buon lavoro e buon divertimento!

The department offers bachelors degrees in French and Italian. At the graduate level the department provides three subject tracks leading to masters and doctors degrees in French: French and Francophone Literature; French Linguistics; Romance Linguistics. Fall semester, 2008 will mark the beginning of a Graduate Program in Italian Studies at the University of Texas. Please contact Daniela Bini for more information.

The department offers a collegial atmosphere and a sense of community to students. Il Circolo ItalianoOffsite link sponsors Italian films and other activities, and an active conversation group, Tavola Italiana, meets regularly for information conversation in Italian.
