Biography
Abigail grew up in Columbia, Missouri, as the oldest of 5 children and began studying French, later adding Latin and German before graduating high school. Her love of French led her to major in French and subsequently general linguistics at Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri. She also studied a few years of Russian.
After graduating, she spent a year in Omsk, Russia (southern Siberia) as a US Department of State Fulbright English Teaching Assistant. Since moving back, she has found that Texas summers are just as hot as Siberian ones. Her main interests as a French linguistics grad student at UT Austin are historical linguistics and dialectology. Past research includes perception of dialects and the medieval French manuscript "Fauvel."
