Rome Study Program-Summer 2015 in Rome, Italy- First Summer Session - May 29 - July 9

Rome Students and FacultyThe Rome Study Program is an intensive language and culture program open to all registered undergraduate and graduate students of UT-Austin and to students in good standing from other universities who register at UT-Austin for the summer session. The program begins May 26, 2014 and ends July 9, 2014.

The Rome Study Program gives students of all majors the opportunity to study six weeks in Rome and earn from 3 to 6 credit hours; courses are taught by UT faculty of the French and Italian Department. Classes will be held in a centrally located school near the Vatican City.  The program will sponsor class visits of Italian writers and filmmakers.

Italian families host students providing an in-depth experience of Italian life-style and language.

In Rome, Italian art historians and archeologists will accompany students to the most prominent historical and artistic sites of Ancient, Baroque, and modern Rome.  Students can visit some of the most beautiful Italian sites on weekends. Some field trips are included in the cost, others are optional.

After completing intensive first-year Italian (ITL 601C and ITL 611 C), students can take their first upper-division course in Rome (not offered at the UT campus during the summer) that will allow them to continue studying Italian at the upper-division level in the fall. Students can and should also enroll in the course taught in English, for which there is no prerequisite, and learn how to discover, appreciate,  and understand the magic city of Rome.

ITL 328-Composition and Conversation (Antonella D. Olson); ITC 349-Rome in Words, Images and Music (Daniela Bini).

Students interested in the program who are taking a sequence of courses different from the one above mentioned, should contact the Program Director.

The deadline to receive the program's application is February 9, 2015. Students are strongly encouraged to apply as early as possible. The program begins in Rome on May 30, 2015; students will leave the US on May 29. The last day of classes is July 8.
