AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas Language Center has selected Jane Lippmann, professor of French and Italian, for the Special Meritorious Service Award, a prestigious honor for outstanding teaching in foreign languages. Lippmann, who came to the University of Texas at Austin in 1964, has taught lower and upper division French courses in the Department of French and Italian for more than 40 years. She was one of the first professors to introduce and develop technology in language instruction. A beloved professor and mentor, Lippmann is the recipient of several teaching awards including the President’s Associates Teaching Excellence Award, the Liberal Arts Student Council’s Professor of the Year Award and the Margaret C. Berry Award for Outstanding contributions to student life.
