Matthias Sjerps of MPI's Individual Differences group received this prestigious award for his 2011 dissertation about the way listeners manage to deal with variation in speech.

The Department of French & Italian is now accepting applications for the fall 2012 term of the new Doctoral Program in Romance Studies. This new certification program will provide students with cross-disciplinary training in the literary, cultural, historical, and political dimensions of nations connected by a common linguistic heritage (e.g. Spain, Italy, Portugal, France, Belgium). The program also promotes greater interaction among students and faculty working in areas related to these fields and provides increased visibility and offerings in the fields on campus.
