B. A. Degree Requirements in Italian

Italian Major

Twenty-four semester hours of upper-division coursework in Italian, including ITL 328, ITL 329, ITL 321, and 15 additional hours of upper division ITL coursework. 3 hours of Italian Civilization chosen from ITC 349 or ITC 360 may be counted once towards the major. 

Required Minor for Italian Majors

Either

(1) 12 hours in any one other field of study.  Must include 6 upper-division and 6 hours in residence

Or

(2) A complete foreign language sequence not used for the foreign language requirement.  Must include 9 hours total, 6 hours in residence, and 3 hours upper-division.

Declaring a minor in Italian

Requirements and options for minors vary widely among colleges and majors at UT Austin. The Department of French and Italian Academic Advisor is available to discuss appropriate course choices with you, but it is best to check with the advisor in your major to clarify the exact requirements for a minor.

Tavola Italiana

Informal weekly meetings to practice the Italian language and discuss aspects of Italian culture.
Students of Italian are encouraged to attend and everyone with some knowledge of Italian is welcome!
