Jennifer is a former network engineer who realized mid-life that her family predisposition to knowledge of and work in public health was waking up, but that she was interested in the insight that geography could bring to the field. She now uses the tools of spatial and statistical analyses, and GIS to work on medical, health, and disparities research.
She is interested in the intersections and linkages among gender/political/economic inequities, environmental change and resource destruction, climate change, limited access to resources, and how these factors influence both each other and the health of those who live and operate within these interdependent ecosystems.
She is both very network and computer knowledgable and savvy (hardware and software), and has extensive knowledge of and experience with GIS (studied/s from 2009 through 2013, and professional use in 2009 -2010, and again since 2011). She understands its utility in and application to many different disciplines and fields. Her GIS experience has been with ArcGIS 9.3, 10, 10.1, and 10.2. In her work, she currently uses versions 10.1 and 10.2, with Stata and the whole Microsoft Office suite.
