Declaring Urban Studies as an Undergraduate Major
The Urban Studies major requires 12 hours of specified Urban Studies coursework (in addition to other requirements). Since these courses are offered only once a year, students need to plan to spend two years completing the Urban Studies major.
Information Sessions
Attending an information session is required prior to declaring an Urban Studies major. Information sessions for spring 2012:
- Friday, February 10th, 12:00-1:00 pm
- Thursday, March 1st, 2:00-3:00 pm
- Wednesday, March 21st, 10:00-11:00 am
- Monday, April 2nd, 1:00-2:00 pm
- Tuesday, May 1st, 11:00am - 12:00 pm
All meetings will take place in Burdine Hall 436B
Prior to declaring a major in Urban Studies it is suggested that you meet the following criteria:
· Completion of, or credit for M 316 or SSC 305 with a grade of C- or better*
· Completion of, or credit for M 408C or 408K with a grade of C- or better**
· Have an overall UT GPA of 2.0
* Other comparable statistics course may be approved by petition. Please consult the Urban Studies Academic Advisor if you have a statistics course you would like to petition.
** M 403K and 403L may not be counted toward this requirement
