The advisor's office is located in CLA 1.216. Office hours may vary depending on time of year, but typically occur between 9:00am and 4:00pm (the office is closed for lunch from 12 - 1pm). To minimize problems, please check in advance (512-232-6344) to determine the advisor's availablility. Please try to obtain advising before the peak periods of registration occur. Also remember, advising is available all year so you are welcome to visit the advisor during non-registration periods as well. You may run your own degree audit online through IDA (Interactive Degree Audit): http://www.utexas.edu/student/registrar/ida/.
Becoming a Major in Geography or Urban Studies
To declare a major in Geography, you must visit the undergraduate advisor.
Although not strictly required, continuing majors should check with the undergraduate advisor periodically to share information on courses, discuss difficulties, obtain approvals, and to keep track of career, internship, study abroad, and honors possibilities.
Note: Until August 31, 2003, the Urban Studies major was managed by the Urban Issues Program. The Department of Geography and the Environment gratefully acknowledges continued support from the LBJ School of Public Affairs.
