Guidelines for EIS Lab Access and Use

The Geography EIS Lab is reserved for Geography students and students currently enrolled in Geography GIS courses only. To log in you will need a lab account assigned by the Geography system administrator. Department of Geography Graduate students are granted 24 hour access to the EIS Lab. The EIS lab available hours are listed in the schedule below.

LAB PRIORITY

  1. Classes regularly scheduled in the lab.
  2. Classes that make arrangements to use the lab for specific projects in remote sensing, introductory and advanced cartography, and other facets of the discipline.
  3. All other users.
    Note: During scheduled class or lab times, users not enrolled in the class must vacate the lab unless given permission to stay by the instructor or TA. This rule is not negotiable and is strictly enforced.

RULES FOR ROOM USE

  1. Absolutely no food or tobacco products are allowed within the facility. Drinks must be in approved, spill-proof containers.
  2. Work quietly. Don't disturb other users.
  3. Lab resources are to be used for academic purposes only.
  4. You can be logged in on only one workstation at a time. You must use your own account. Any attempt to bypass security can result in loss of privileges.
  5. Illegal copying of proprietary software or commercial CDs will not be tolerated and may result in the loss of lab privileges.
  6. You must log out of a workstation before leaving the facility. Do not leave your workstation unattended.
  7. If you intend to use a CD, you must use headphones (with 1/8" jack).
  8. Do not remove lab materials, such as manuals, from the facility without explicit permission from the lab staff.
  9. Clean up after yourself.
  10. If a particular piece of hardware or software will not function, please notify the lab manager.
  11. Authorized students using the laboratories may be asked supply their own consumable supplies (paper, diskettes, tapes, ink cartridges), when so notified.
  12. It is solely the responsibility of users to back up their data.
  13. Any authorized user leaving the lab after regular hours must close the main door if nobody else is present.

PENALTIES

SECURITY PROBLEMS

If the door alarm or security loop system is accidentally set off, then immediately call the UT police at 471-4441.
