Summer GIS Institute 2013- GIS for the Classroom

Join Dr. Jennifer Miller and Dr. Eugenio Arima for The GIS Institute of Summer 2013. This 1-1/2 Day session continues for a half day on Saturday June 29th, and is primarily for pre-service and practicing 6-12 Social Studies teachers, but with open registration to anyone wanting to use GIS as a teaching tool. Upon completion, participants will be able to use GIS techniques both to present new material, and as interactive assignments for students. Methods may be applied to Human and World Geography topics, to empower teachers and improve student’s critical thinking though geospatial technologies.
Registration will be capped at 25 per section.
Cost is $175 per session, and includes one boxed lunch.
The Institute will be held at the Julius Glickman Conference Center on the University of Texas at Austin campus.
