Mapping and Documenting Fieldwork with a Smartphone- Brown Bag Lunch
Thu, November 21, 2013 • 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM • CLA 3.710
Join Justin Laue and graduate students from the Department of Geography and the Environment for a Brown Bag Lunchtime talk. Smartphones (and tablets) are powerful tools for photographing, mapping, and inventorying research conducted in the field. This quick and easy lesson will provide some techniques for using your smartphone to geotag photos, document your fieldwork, and map the results-- with no data plan or cellular connection required while in the field. The emphasis will be on iPhones but the techniques will also apply to other smartphones/tablets. For example, see this map.
